The board of directors at the Association of Canadian Port Authorities (ACPA) has appointed Debbie Murray as the organization’s acting president, effective Oct. 4.

Murray, currently ACPA’s director of policy and regulatory affairs, takes over from current president Wendy Zatylny.

In a statement, the ACPA says Murray has worked in policy and government relations for 25 years, with the last 10 in the marine sector.

Murray maintains important relationships with the organization’s 17 Canada Port Authority members, the ACPA says.

“I look forward to working with the ACPA team and the membership to fulfill its current plan, while working on behalf of CPAs with the newly elected government,” Murray says.

A sub-committee of ACPA’s board of directors is working with Boyden on recruitment and will be leading the selection process for the permanent position.

“We are saddened to see Wendy leave the organization but are grateful for her tireless efforts over the past nine years in growing our national association and for raising the profile of Canada Port Authorities amongst our key stakeholders,” says the ACPA.

Zatylny, who is moving to another role, marks her last day at the organization on Oct. 1.
